For years, India has been home to the joyful festivities of Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayak Chaturthi, that celebrate the birth of Lord Ganesh, affectionately called Ganpati Bappa. It is said that the Rishi Vyas invoked Lord Ganesha on earth for the first time before writing the Mahabharata. Before Lord Ganesha commenced as the Mahabharat’s scribe, the Lord was said to have been worshipped for ten days so that the epic would be written without any break.<\/p>\n

It is believed that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj revived Ganeshotsav during the Mughal era as a means of cultural preservation. Later, in 1893, Lokmanya Tilak turned it into a public festival to unite people against British rule, making it a powerful symbol of unity and social harmony. In essence, it is a reflection on India\u2019s unity in diversity, showing the way people from all communities come together, reflecting love and devotion.<\/p>\n

From rice modaks<\/em> to motichoor laddoos<\/em>, the sweetness of traditional delicacies lingered in the air for.\u00a0The ten-day-long festivities concluded, marking the immersion of the idol amongst chanting of\u00a0<\/span>Bappa Morya<\/strong><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Voices<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em><\/a>student reporters bring the pan-India celebrations together, reflecting the resplendent atmosphere that the country basked in of its\u00a0Bappa Morya<\/strong><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This year, several grand and magnificent idols were displayed in Mumbai\u2019s<\/a> pandals, showcasing the extraordinary craftsmanship and intricate artistry of the sculptors. With the advent of technology taking over faith, the celebrations too witnessed the streak of Bappa being worshipped with utmost devotion and art.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Technology has truly created a niche for itself in the festivities, along with the conscientious decision to make ecologically sustainable Ganesha idols and not to immerse the idols in water bodies. In Delhi, the government has created 80 artificial pools for immersing Ganesha idols and Durga idols so that the leftovers of idols do not pollute the Yamuna waters.<\/p>\n

Providing yet another example of technology-driven festivities, a QR code was placed alongside the idol of Lord Ganesha at one of Mumbai’s pandals. The code opened the way for devotees to be able to virtually view the idols and the pandal throughout the year, even long after the idol had been immersed. This pandal also displayed the Champions Trophy 2025 won by the Indian cricket team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The festive spirit came alive at MSR Nagar, Bangalore<\/a>, where Shri Ekadanta Gelayara Balaga beautifully celebrated Gauri Ganesh Chaturthi. Lord Ganesha and Mata Gowri were placed for three days, welcomed with immense love and devotion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The vibrant Fish Market community of Mohanpura Street in Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, came together to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with immense devotion and enthusiasm. The beautifully decorated pandal, heartfelt prayers and collective spirit of the people made the celebration truly special.<\/div>\n

The idols of Lord Ganesha displayed in pandals and homes are painted and adorned with glitter and artificial gems and sequins. Keeping in sync with the growing demand to build ecologically sustainable structures, several eco-friendly Ganpati idols were installed across various parts of the country, including Mumbai, Port Blair and Hyderabad<\/a>.<\/div>\n
In Chandivali, Andheri East, Mumbai, the city\u2019s largest eco-friendly Ganpati was installed. Towering at 26 feet tall and weighing 300 kg, the idol went on to become a certified world record holder of the World Book of Records. The idol was created using 1,800 tissue paper boxes, 22 kg of glue, and 45 kg of iron. This idol intended to convey a powerful message \u2014 that it was not merely an attempt to set a record, but also a reminder for future generations that while celebrating festivals, protecting nature is also a priority.<\/div>\n
