While India tries to get back on its feet from the devastating second wave of COVID-19, the nation find its people grappling with a rare fungal disease, called mucormycosis among recovering or recovered coronavirus patients. On 20th May, the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs urged all states and union territories to assess the situation and notify mucormycosis as an epidemic under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897.
