DINNER DATE
Just like his regular mornings
He sat in his balcony
Humming to the classics on the old radio
Swinging in his rocking chair
He sipped the hot tea
While awaiting for the newspaper
It comes flying in his balcony
He smiles at boy for perfect shot
It was a daily routine of his mornings
For past 50 years, everyday
As he unrolled the newspaper
It seemed as if time stopped
Tears rolled down his face
Staring at the front headline
Radio played songs of the gone era
He lost his grip of newspaper
Walking down the memory lane
He sighed and smiled with moist eyes
As the phone buzzed
His heart skipped a beat
It wasn’t the message he expected
Heart full with emotions
Felt nervous this morning
Anxious, heartfelt, overwhelmed
As his soul froze in moment
A soft hand held him together
To seeing his granddaughter
Holding the brand new suit
That awaited to see this date
Years by years, long wait
Sharing smiles with moist eyes
Holding his granddaughter’s hand
He walked to his beloved’s home
Like walking through a wedding aisle
Happy, fearless, courageous
Unconcerned about society
He was ready to take that step
After years of wait to reunite
It took just a moment of acceptance
Of a loving granddaughter
Reunite the lost love of two old men
Wishing Section 377 to rest in past
It was the perfect dinner date
Of two loving souls & family love
