Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express on June 6, 2025, from Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and other dignitaries were also present at the event. After over four decades of perseverance, the Jammu and Kashmir region of the country is finally connected to Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of the Indian mainland. This event marks the culmination of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula Rail Link (USBRL) Project, a new beginning for the people of India.
The USBRL Project—dubbed the lifeline of connectivity in the Jammu and Kashmir region—has seen many major components create records, two prominent ones being the Chenab Bridge and the Anji Khad Bridge. The Indian Railways has established itself as a global pioneer in the art of engineering in the connectivity sector by dedicating the Chenab Bridge—the world’s tallest railway arch bridge—and the Anji Khad Bridge—India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge—to the nation.
The Voices has already revealed the details in its three-part series—a trilogy dedicated to engineering marvels on the USBRL tracts. This video feature marks the beginning of a new journey for the people of India, traversing across India, right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
