“The fragrance of flowers spreads only in the direction of the wind. But the goodness of a person spreads in all directions.”
By Chanakya
For those who thought that there was nothing worse than 2020, in came 2021, which has turned out to be even worse. News was all about gloom and deaths. Black marketing of oxygen, fake medicines, lack of hospital beds, hasty cremations all came together to test the human spirit of survival. The consciousness of community finds itself exposed to forces which inhibit the very forces of life all of a sudden. But then there are tales that instill hope like a silver lining in a dark sky.
Apart from being grateful to front line workers, humanity owes a lot to many unsung warriors in Pandemic times, whose humanitarian acts have restored the faith in the goodness. The Voices met with some of them.
Dr. Anupama Gupta – Academic counsellor, Ghaziabad – UP
For nothing shall stop the force that education is…
“During this pandemic I realized that many parents are confronting huge financial crisis due to salary cuts or job losses. The disruption in regular incomes has affected the education of their children. This inspired me to start free academic sessions for class XI and XII. Many students have registered with me and I am happy that they find the classes beneficial. This is a small contribution from my side during this pandemic and I appeal to the teaching community to come forward and help such students of all grades to ensure that their future do not get effected.”
Sanjay Jain – President, Association of Apartment Owners (AOA), Indirapuram – UP
For ‘community’ is a little family we serve…
“In order to help the residents of the society to combat COVID-19, we made certain logistical arrangements. We purchased oxygen cylinders and oxygen concentrators. The cylinders are of different capacities and are given as per the requirement of the patient. As of now we have been able to use it for 25 – 30 patients. It has saved lives and brought smiles on the faces of people.”
Mrs. Madhu Gulati – Food Sewa, Mumbai – Maharashtra
For food is about feeding the soul…
“We need to stand united in the fight against COVID-19. Considering the times we are living in, and the pain being experienced by the people, I thought to get involved in something which serves them as a dose of positivity. What better than food which is enriching as well as fulfilling for patients battling with the virus. The love and blessing which I get in return, is unparalleled satisfaction.”
Ravinder – Delivery Boy, Ghaziabad – UP
For serving at doorstep is a joy unrivalled
“I have been working for Big basket for a year now. The staff at our firm is doing their best to follow COVID-19 protocols. In order to stay protected from COVID, we are advised to drop the grocery at doors itself. It feels good to take utmost care while serving people at their doorsteps in times when they are reluctant to step out.”
In a world of gloom and despair, where all seems but lost, these stories give hope to all of humanity. Every act of kindness, irrespective of it’s apparent immediate impact, spreads goodness in all directions.
